Issue with search function in GroupWise

I am not sure if this is a client or agent issue, but I thought I would start here first. I have 1 user (reporting anyways, waiting for verification if this is a more widespread issue or not) that is having a search issue in GroupWise (2014sp1 server/client, hp1 not applied yet). It seems that whenever they do a search in GroupWise it only shows results from 2014 & older, nothing from 2015.

Thanks!

Sounds like a problem with the QF indexes for that user's mailbox.
Assuming the user is in online mode and experiencing the problem you'll
have to rebuild the QF indexes for that user. If the user is in
caching mode you'll have to do something similar but for the caching
mailbox.

Re: Issue with search function in GroupWise

One of our customers had similar problem.
In this case it was communication problem between DVA and QuickFinder.

Check DVA agent if it's using SSL.
If yes, make it not using SSL and run reindex via POA console -> Configuration -> QuickFinder Indexing

Hope it helps

Re: Issue with search function in GroupWise

The user runs live, no cached mode. I assume https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7012997 should suffice for rebuilding the user's QF index in 2014 as well? I should be able to do this live during the middle of the day with the user in the mailbox? Only thing it will do is just slow the POA down for a little while?

Thanks!

Re: Issue with search function in GroupWise

It showed disabled, so I enabled it. I then ran it per the TID on the specific FID. I'll check tomorrow to see if the user is AOK.

Re: Issue with search function in GroupWise

Hi

I realize that you have fixed the issue for your one user. However I would suggest that you double-check your system wide Quick Finder indexing as a whole. I usually set the QFLevel to 999 which ensures that everything is indexed not just the last 1000 messages. I would suggest that if you set that, kick it off on a Friday afternoon as it may take some time to complete. I then schedule Quick Finder indexing to run every 4 hours so that it keeps up to date with all e-mail flowing through the system.

Cheers,
Laura Buckley

Re: Issue with search function in GroupWise

Laura,
Right now it does show quickfinder enabled (in green), with Indexing Level /qflevel "Normal". It still has the one specific user's FID listed, assuming I should clear that beginning/ending user FID fields & select submit (or is this just used for manual/one time use QF indexing)?

In checking the scheduler I am seeing it lists the following:
QuickFinder Indexing
Event Current Status Idle
Event Last Started Time 04/13/2015 04:00:00
Event Last Completed Time 04/13/2015 04:00:30
Event Next Start Time 04/14/2015 04:00:00
Event Schedule Interval 24 hour(s)
# of Concurrent Events Allowed 1

Re: Issue with search function in GroupWise

Hi,

In the Admin Console on the Post Office Object you need to adjust the interval for QF indexing. In the actual POA startup file you need to set QFLevel to 999 to enable "complete" indexing. You also need to clear the single user FID or else that is the only user that will be indexed.

Hope that helps.

Laura Buckley

Re: Issue with search function in GroupWise

Hi

Further to what I've said above, here's the documentation reference for the QFLevel switch that I suggest you implement:

https://www.novell.com/documentation/groupwise2014/gw2014_guide_admin/data/b4cy1k5.html

Personally, I set it to 999 to ensure that ALL items are indexed. Once I've run a full index on an outdated post office, preferably over a weekend, I then set my interval to 4 hours. But that's just me 😉

Cheers,
Laura Buckley
