Mailbox quota notifications

We recently implemented mailbox quotas on a per user basis. GW has been at this organization for 20 years without quotas and everyone has a different amount mail so the per user route was the only way to go without getting major blow back. Some users receive a Mailbox Storage Size Warning when they login to GW and clilck New Mail even if they are below the 10% threshold that was set. There's also a box to check that says to not warn again, however, after checking the box and close/reopen GW the message comes back. How do I get rid of these notifications for the affected users? I've done a gwcheck Analyze/Fix DB/Structure/Contents/Fix Problems/Update Disk space on one of the users and still receive the messages.

This is a GW 8.0.3HP5-118623 environment on OES2 Linux (SLES SP3)

Message when opening GW and clicking New Mail:

Thanks,
Brad

Certainly something is broken. Do you have regular running GWchecks and
that the they come clear as per http://www.konecnyad.ca/andyk/gwlogs.htm
(i.e. Back to back contents checks yield only a few 39,67,66,93
'problems')

Are the users hitting this in a particular size of mailbox range?
I wouldn't be surprised if this were some of your more energetic mail
users. http://www.konecnyad.ca/andyk/gwbig.htm has more tips to help see
who has what and how they can manage it.

Are any of these caching mailboxes?

that would indicate you are at OES2sp2 there is another SP level to get
to. Not likely any cause here, but worth knowing about, especially if you
want to protect yourself some of the related security issues.

Re: Mailbox quota notifications

Thank you for the reply Andy. We do run GWcheck routines every weekend and a Trash event every night.
Saturday Job:
User = All
Action = Analyze/Fix
Files = Message, User
Verify = Contents
Fixup num = All
Statistics = Yes
Box Limit = 500
Verbose = No
Upd DiskSpace= Yes

results from 8/15:
***** OVERALL STATS FOR THIS RUN *****
*********************************************************************
Uncorrectable conditions encountered:
- No problems found
Correctable conditions encountered:
CODE DESCRIPTION COUNT
---- -------------------------------------------------- -----
52 Outdated search records found...................... 1
66 GWCheck log files in log directory................. 1
67 Outdated execution records.(notify/alarm).......... 790
77 Attachment records opened but not readable......... 1
78 Item records with invalid fields................... 116
79 Duplicate folder names at same level............... 2
82 Inaccessible attachment files...................... 23
93 Unused blob files (deleted)........................ 1838
102 Contact folders out of sync........................ 1
*********************************************************************

Sunday 8/16 Job:
User = All
Action = Analyze/Fix
Files = Message, User
Verify = Structure
Fixup num = All
Verbose = No
Upd DiskSpace= No

Results:
***** OVERALL STATS FOR THIS RUN *****

CODE DESCRIPTION COUNT
---- -------------------------------------------------- -----
66 GWCheck log files in log directory................. 1

None of these users are caching users. One user in particular is a heavy email user but the rest are moderate with different quota sizes. Any other suggestions?

Re: Mailbox quota notifications

Hi,

In ConsoleOne, setting Client Options for your GroupWise users, on the tab where you set the quota - what did you set the "Threshold for warning users" to? I usually set this to 85% or, depending on the customer, 90 - 95%

Looking at the picture that you posted this threshold has been set too low as it is warning at low as 21%

Double-check this setting and please let us know how it goes.

Cheers,
Laura Buckley

Re: Mailbox quota notifications

Thanks Laura for the reply. There were some inconsistencies in the thresholds set but some users still received the message regardless. I restarted the POA and things seem fine now. Do you know if the user specific quotas follow when I migrate to GW 2014? Thanks.

If these persist across multiple Contents checks, they should be
investigated as they require some level of manual intervention.
They likely represent little things that the affected users either
haven't noticed or are just working around. Fixing them may well
answer other unanswered issues.

Glad the POA restart helped.
