Managing user accounts

In previous versions we used the Managed policies software from Omni / Riva to manage proxy access and signatures as well as send out an email informing people that their password was about to expire. With the upgrade to 2014 and the separation of users from eDirectory, we can no longer manage proxy access, managed signatures still work , but much of the rest no longer works.

So the question is, is there a way to manage the same things (proxy access, calendars, address books, etc) now that GroupWise 2014 is out of eDirectory?

I'd ask Omni, actually.

Omni tells me that they should have something in a few weeks. Of course, GW
2014 isn't "out of eDirectory" really - it can still be integrated with
eDirectory, but I'm not sure that not being integrated with eDirectory is the
only issue with eControl. In any event, contact Omni and see if they have a
firmer timetable now than "a few weeks".

Re: Managing user accounts

Omni says because of the change in management API's they are not supporting GW 2014 nor do they have plans to use the new API and support the current version or future versions of GroupWise. To quote Omni technical support:

"Riva for GroupWise Managed Policies and Reports uses the GroupWise Admin API. There are no plans to revise Riva to use the new REST API. This means that GroupWise 2012 is the last version that Riva for GroupWise Management will support."

Re: Managing user accounts

Here is what Omni replied to a support inquiry as of 7/14/2014:

"Riva for GroupWise Managed Policies and Reports uses the GroupWise Admin API. There are no plans to revise Riva to use the new REST API. This means that GroupWise 2012 is the last version that Riva for GroupWise Management will support." (emphasis added)

So I'm looking for alternatives, if any exist. The unfortunate thing is that I am starting to get pressure to move to Office 365 and use the cloud version of Exchange. . .

Wow - I spoke to them about a week ago, and they told me "weeks away" - so I
guess they've changed their minds about doing it.

Re: Managing user accounts

In a related follow up, I have the managed signature application and it will change and distribute signatures even to GW 2014 users that existed before the upgrade. Users created after the upgrade (and there has only been one), are not manageable. It tells me I need to choose a user that has access to GroupWise.

Here is the message when I try previewing the signature (by browsing to the user and selecting them).

Here is the log when I try executing the policy.

My question is what is it looking for and if it is 2014 related can I spoof it?

Re: Managing user accounts - partially solved

At least in the case of Riva Managed Signatures, it is looking for one of more of the following:

NGW: File ID

NGW: GroupWise ID

NGW: Object ID

NGW: Visibility

Adding these to the users created after the GroupWise 2014 migration allows many of the features of Omni Riva Managed Policies and Applications to work.
