Missing From Information for Some Messages on Androids
Hello All,
We are having an issue where some of our messages that come in are missing the "From" information. This means that if we click Reply, the To field is empty and we have to manually type the address IF we even know their address. Here is a summary of all of the facts.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Daniel Joaquin

- GroupWise 2012 SP2
- Data Syncronizer 1.2.4
- Messages missing sender are ALWAYS from outside our office, but happens in less then half the incoming messages.
- The issue only happens on Android devices. I have confirmed it on two Motorola Atrix 2's and a Motorola Razr M. iPhones and iPads do not have the same issue.
- We are using the native Android Mail app.
- The Atrix's are on Jelly Bean and the Razr is on Kit Kat.
- Happens on multiple user mailboxes.
- I have tried completely re-initializing a user to see if there was an issue with the mailboxes on the Data Sync server. After the re-sync, the issue still existed
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Daniel Joaquin

You really should upgrade to GroupWise Mobility Service 2.0
I've not seen this specific issue, so seriously, upgrading and seeing if this
goes away would be my first suggestion. If the problem persists, then I think
getting Novell involved would be in order.

DZanre,
> You really should upgrade to GroupWise Mobility Service 2.0
Wholeheartedly agreed. It is a simple upgrade.

Hello,
Well I upgraded to version 2.0.1 in July but the issue remained. I am picking this back up because our users are still frustrated. The "upgrade" was actually a new server, so nothing was brought over from the old system. I simply stood up the new system, setup the users on it and then deleted the account on each device and setup a new connection.
As I mentioned before this happens on all Android devices regardless of make, model or OS version. I have been able to determine no rhyme or reason as to which messages it will happen to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Here is part of a screenshot on one of the devices. Notice the message in the middle has no sender.
Best Regards,
Daniel

I have never seen that. Can you look at the offending message in the GW
client and have a peek at the header? Perhaps post it here?

I went ahead and launched SR with Novell. They requested the Mime file so they could inspect it. I will update with the results.
Best regards,
