Mobility ignores Internet Domain name change

Hi,

We've added a new Internet Domain to our GroupWise 2012 system and it has been set as the preferred Internet Domain. When emails are sent from the GroupWise clients the new domain is used correctly. But Mobility insists on using the old Domain name. We've tried deleting and re-adding the activesync account from the handsets (iPhone and iPad) but the issue remains.

In the mobility-agent.log we see the message come from the device with the correct <displayName> set with the new Domain, but the <email> tag shows the old domain name.

Any ideas?

We're running Mobility 2.1 on a fully patched SLES SP3 server.

Mark.

A) make sure you have regular maintenace running on the POAs.
http://www.konecnyad.ca/andyk/gwmnt5x.htm
B) might be worth fitting in a top-down rebuild to kick any stuck bits
loose. https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=3347260
C) run dsapp on the Mobility server
https://www.novell.com/communities/coolsolutions/cool_tools/dsapp/
start with the General Health Check and see what it recommends, as
well as a rebuild indexes (after backing up the databases of course)

a close look at your Contents checks as per
http://www.konecnyad.ca/andyk/gwlogs.htm might also show some clues.

[SOLVED] Re: Mobility ignores Internet Domain name change

Hi Andy,

I already schedule regular weekly maintenance as per your links (thanks for those BTW) and decided to jump straight to DSapp as I thought that the best bet as to where the issue lay.

Vacuums and reindexes hadn't been run in a long time (my bad - will cron the automatic running of those next) so ran through those, but that didn't fix it. Checked the user info (opt 6 -> 2 in the menus) and that showed all the users with the correct new email address domains, so the data had gotten passed though to Mobility.

Tried a re-init of my user account, still no joy old domain still getting put out as the email address.

Restarted the PO and BINGO the new domain name is now being used. So I would guess somewhere in the POA's SOAP client the Internet Domain is cached and not updated when the domain is changed in GroupWise. I would guess it should be chalked down as a bug as everywhere else the new domain name was pushed across the platform and the change was transparent to the users, their email addresses just updated for all outbound connections.

Your welcome, glad they are of use. And that was a very logical approach,
just not knowing if you had the maintenace in place, I had to point them
out.

Interesting. Not sure how high a priority it will be to fix given the
fairly easy work around, but I will feed this to the back end. Feel free
to submit an enhancement request for this as well to add to the proddings.
Thank you for the feed back, you may be helping more than a few people
moving forward.

I have seen issues where restarting the POA was necessary - like changing a
user's name, etc. I think GMS caches a lot of information, and a restart of the
POA makes it look again.
