Nickname already exists on the post office?

Hi,
GW2014, not R2, I changed the surname of one of our users, then changed the
user ID (rename), and wanted to go an setup a nickname for the old user
object to cover the name change.
I go in to the account to create a nickname and get "Nickname xxx already
exists on the post office."

I cannot find this nickname anywhere though. It doesn't show on the user
object that I'm trying to create it on, or in the post office?

The nickname appears to be there working though, the old email address
(firstname.surname) and the new one works, and mail is delivered to the
users mailbox.

Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Thanks, Alan

Re: Nickname already exists on the post office?

Hi Alan,

I'd gather information on all Nicknames in your GroupWise system.

Here's how to do it using Curl:

 curl -k --user admin:password https://10.11.113.220:9710/gwadmin-service/list/Nickname.csv?attrs=domain,postoffice,name,firstname,lastname > nickname.csv

Change the ip to your server's ip, admin to your admin name, and password to your admin's password. Open the resultant csv file and look for any duplicates anywhere in your system.

Please let us know how it goes.

Re: Nickname already exists on the post office?

Thanks Laura,
Never come across the command before, it wouldn't run from the server (curl:
(7) couldn't connect to host) but I pinched the URL and used that to
generate the CSV on my PC. Amazing what you can find when you have a search
function! I found the culprit nickname, all sorted now thanks.
