No Dashboard after SLES Update 12 SP3

After updating to latest patches (SLES 12 SP3) GMS shows no dashboard.
Browser just hangs. Other functions work.

Already tried https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7014923

GMS 14.2.2 Build 225.

Edit: SLES12 SP3 was running before, just added the latest patches.
After this the problem occurs.

What do you get when
rcgms status
are they all running?
Any disk space or memory constraints happening? df -h and free -m

You've given me incentive to make sure I take snapshots before I update
my clients' systems

If you
rcgms status
does everything show as running and if not, what do they show as?
Does dsapp's general health check show anything of interest?

Check /var/log/datasync/webadmin/server.log for any change between before
and after the update.

I haven't run those updates yet at my clients, its in the queue.

Re: No Dashboard after SLES Update 12 SP3

Hi Laura,

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I see it just now, as NNTP Server didn't sync messages anymore. Time to say goodbye to NNTP.

Back to topic.

I already downloaded and did a fix with this tool a year before, bad that I forgot it exists. I fired up the skript - no dashboard. Then I stopped gms first - executed script again. Voilà - dashboard is back. 🙂

Thanks for putting me in the right direction Laura.

FYI: This message appears in serverl.log when klicking on dashboard before the script:

Re: No Dashboard after SLES Update 12 SP3

Hi Andy,

thanks for your reply. The fixPyhton.sh script was the answer.

Yes I have to force myself to take a snapshot even when installing a few SLES patches.

Just upgraded GMS 18.0.1p1 from Sles 12 Sp2 to Sp3 an ran into this issue. Ran the python fix and the dashboard is working again. Until I ran the script the server.log shows the following error:

You have me a bit gun shy to updating to SP3 now, even though I know I
need to bite that bullet sooner or later.
When you
rcgms status
do they all show as on-line?

What are the logs saying?
Start with /var/log/datasync/webadmin/server.log
/var/log/datasync/*/*.log are others to check as well

and of course /var/log/messages is another one to check on as well

Re: No Dashboard after SLES Update 12 SP3

and I see my posts are getting through to the web interface, but not back to the NNTP interface
so please ignore the duplication while I figure out this nntp oddity

Glad we have the fix available.

yes, we've been having issues with the nntp.NetIQ|novell.com box. switching to the nntp.suse.com box for the same groups appears to be working. boy have I missed messages
long term, yes nntp is going away and a number of us aren't happy, but such is life <sigh>
