Notify and Always On Top

Hi all,

Upgraded to R2 over the weekend. Running Notify but notice that it doesn't stay on top of other programs anymore when it notifies. I can see users missing notifications if they don't notice it popping up and click on another application. Is this happening to others as well? If so, is there a fix?

Thanks
Victor

Hi Victor,

Sorry for the slow response.

My Notify pops up with new mail and stays on top for the configurable amount of time. This time can be adjusted by right-clicking on the Notify icon in the system tray, selecting Options. From the screen that appears, on the General tab is the setting for "Show Notify Dialog for". Check those settings.

I'm running build 123047 of the Client. Perhaps check you build number and let us know what you are running.

Cheers,
Laura Buckley

Hi Laura,

No worries for the slow response, and thanks for the response 🙂

I am running the same build as well. I have my Notify show the dialog for the maximum amount of time as I want it to stay up until I clear it. Can you try this and see if it does the same thing- Let Notify pop up and then click on the program that is running behind it. I usually have Chrome up behind it. What happens in my case is the Notify popup disappears and does not stay on top of everything as it used to do. I'm afraid of missing appointments as it does not come back after it disappears.

Thanks
Victor

Hi Victor,

Ok, with Chrome open I can observe that the Notify window does not stay on top. It does with FireFox and IE. All I can recommend is you open a Service Request to get MicroFocus Technical Support to take a look at this. It might be a bug.

I submitted a ticket about this and here is the response I received: "The Notify issues you are describing are now working as designed. Notify is no longer a popup window per se but rather a task so you will be unable to move the notification window around nor will it observe the always on top."

I've had nothing but complaints about this from my users. They miss appointments and reminders. I've experienced this myself. I wish they would go back to the way it was or at least make it optional. I've already submitted this as an idea.
