Orphaned user.db in OFUSER

In the GWcheck log for one of our post offices I see we have some orphaned user.db files.

I have checked there are no User Move status records for users with these file IDs and have used the stand alone GWCheck to run Structural rebuild against the user???.db but the error still shown in the next days log. (This based on information in GWCheck Problems - CoolSolutionsWiki).
Two of the user databases have an fid which is not used by any user on our Groupwise system. As far as I am aware only 1 or 2 of the users with the other FIDs have ever been on this post office.

Do I simply delete these user.db files, run the structural rebuild and then restart the POA to reload NGWGUARD.DB (TID 7006236 "How to drop a user or message or any other database from the guard")?

Re: Orphaned user.db in OFUSER

It's not uncommon for deleted users to leave their databases behind. After Two weeks those should be auto cleaned up, if not, then you should be fine to remove those manually.

What we see in your message though, is that the NGWGuard still has the user listed, but the user has been removed from the post office. Can you verify that the user is not on any domain? That's quite a few users to get whacked the same day, they were all whacked about Midnight, which I find rather odd. Do you have a backup of those users, incase something went wrong?

Re: Orphaned user.db in OFUSER

You can delete them if you want. OTOH once they reach an age of 2 weeks,
GWCHECK will delete them automatically.

Re: Orphaned user.db in OFUSER

Strange that they are all newly created this morning though ?

I wonder if there's something like IDM in the mix here

Re: Orphaned user.db in OFUSER

Thanks for the input.

The timestamp on the files is when gwcheck runs, these files keep having their timestamp updated.

I shall delete them and see what tonight's check reports.

Re: Orphaned user.db in OFUSER

Thanks, Dave.

Yes there is IDM in the mix, but none of the file IDs beloing to users on this post office and 2 of them don't exist anywhere in the Groupwise system.

I'll investigate the IDM angle, if they re-appear tonight.

Re: Orphaned user.db in OFUSER

Take a look at TID 7006236 to drop these accounts from the ngwguard database

Cheers Dave
