PoaAvailDiskSpace getting the wrong size of disk

I am occasionally getting a report of low disk space when there is
significantly more.

Roughly at a 2 week cycle but with no discernable pattern (not near
reboots or any other activity) I get

poaAvailDiskSpace < 2000 ( poaAvailDiskSpace = 1730 )

but this is on an NSS volume that has over 50GB of free space, more
than enough for another copy of this PO.
I have been able to confirm that disk space when some of the messages
occurred.

GW 8.0.2 (09/13/2011) on OES11 on vSphere5.1

any ideas of where to look?
... that is beyond the patching that we are working to schedule.

Hi Andy

I know that this is an old thread, but I was wondering..... do you have NSS quota's enabled on your NSS volumes?

Yes, 90GB quota for the only Volume for the 99GB Pool
I just use those quota's to hold a reserve. Too many clients just don't
do any real capacity planning or the nature of their business defeats
standard capacity planning (consistent? What's that?). This way they
have what is normally a quick expand of space AND a strong alert that
some real growth planning or purging is now needed. I say normally
because I have an example right now of I can't get to Volumes for that
server under iManager right now, hmm, another thing to go investigate.

Re: PoaAvailDiskSpace getting the wrong size of disk

Hi Andy

Thanks for the reply.

The readme for GroupWise 8 SPx states the following:

If you use NSS volumes with quotas turned on, you must turn on quotas on all GroupWise directories. Otherwise, you receive No Disk Space errors.

I'm wondering if this is what's causing your issue.

Hmm, will have to dig into that, though that does sound a bit silly,
especially if that means each and every offiles subdir.

Of course I'll post that here, once I get around to that as the client
hadn't even noticed. Only us consultants are actually seeing the
messages, so totally on our dime at this point.

Well it is a mute point on this system as we upgraded it to 2012 this
weekend.
Previously applying sp1 to OES11 did reduce the impact some, but I just
didn't have the quota's on the Domain and PostOffice directories long
enough to be sure that was the fix.
