Prevent incoming messages on POA level

Hi Forum,

this question justs pops up and now I'm wondering...
Is it possible to prevent incoming messages for one Account on a POA level? I know GWIA can accomplish this via Class Of Service.
But maybe I want to disable a Mailbox and want to prevent icoming messages from internet (which GWIA can handle) AND from the same POA (which GWIA can't handle as the POA delivers the mail directly without GWIA).

I would guess some of you groupwise specialists would know that offhand 🙂 I say "no" but not 100% sure

Thanks,
Pascal

Re: Prevent incoming messages on POA level

Hi Pascal,

Should you wish to keep a GroupWise account but disable the sending/receiving of any e-mail to/from it you can use the "Force Inactive Status" on that account. By doing so you will also cease to consume a license for that account as far as I am aware.

Is this what you are hoping to accomplish?

Cheers,

Re: Prevent incoming messages on POA level

Hi Laura,

that is what I was looking for. I understood the documentation for the "Force Inactive Status" differently. I thought it would disable the login and free one user licence. Found nothing about prevent sending/receiving :(.
I will test it to be be sure and post the result 😉

Cheers,
Pascal

Re: Prevent incoming messages on POA level

Hi,

the result of my tests are as following after enabling "Force Inactive Status":
- Client Login is possible
- User can send mails to internal Groupwise users
- User can send mails to external email addresses
- User can't recieve mails from internal senders with error =D081 (user is inactive)
- User can't recieve mails from external senders with error =D081 (user is inactive)

The mail response from gwia mailer daemon looks like this:

The message that you sent was undeliverable to the following:

example_user (User account is marked inactive.)

Pascal

Re: Prevent incoming messages on POA level

Hi Pascal,

That is very interesting! I was under the impression that "Force Inactive" will also prevent the sending of mail.

Thank you for your feedback. Have you accomplished what you wanted?
