Problem codes for GWCheck

First off, is there any document that has all the gw problem and error codes? Also, is there a list of misc. support options that can be used when running gwcheck to fix certain error's and problems? Not that the problem 98 is a problem below, can't seem to find any info on it.

- checking Category records
Problem 98- Missing one or more category fields [drn=7103, type=65535, name=Motion]
- Record 7103 updated successfully
- Repairing category record (drn = 7103): succeeded

Thanks in advance!

I usually use this one: http://wiki.novell.com/index.php/GWCheck_Problems

Problem 98 should normally fix itself... it would be good to know which GroupWise versions (and patchlevel) you are using for client and server.

Thanks. Have you checked if those errors keep returning on the next gwcheck run?

What actually causes that error, I don't know. Could be something the client is not always doing correctly when creating a new item... but AFAIK it's not critical or noticeable anyway. At least not that I've seen or heard.

Yes, lots in addition to what Willem posted
http://wiki.novell.com/index.php/GroupWise:_GWCheck_Errors_and_Problems
https://www.novell.com/documentation/groupwise2012/gw2012_guide_tsh1/data
/hi5b8nd2.html

There is not any official list of the misc support options for the simple
reason that too many people would just try them out to see how they work.
There are some unofficial ones out there, but they are certainly not for
early steps of troubleshooting and certainly not a part of regular
maintenance.

For regular maintenance here is what I look at

Yeah, originally I was looking for an extensive list I know of... I think it was on gecheck.com, but that site is down it seems.

Here's another one that has quite a listing (haven't looked at it in detail): http://www.groupwise.org/gwcheckoptions.htm

But as Andy already cautions.... do take care in using the Misc options. They are not hidden for nothing, and always look at the result logs from a check in detail before pressing on with a next check. And as always, a good backup is holly 🙂

And from what I can see in the WayBack machine, it has been down like
that for a while. The domain expires in just over a month, but has been
adjusted recently. We'll know better in August.

That's the one I use. I know the guy(Bob) who put it together and I
keep bugging the site owner(Andreas) to update the rest of the site. I
think I'll just have to update it myself and give him the files. He is
so not a web guy, though he sure knows his GroupWise.

I never thought of backups as a plant or girls name, but since they can
be holy as well, I can go with that 😉

LOL! The difference one letter more can make 🙂 But of course I meant Holly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5svEpfmHTN4 (I'm sure she can magically bring back the data as well 😉 )

Re: Problem codes for GWCheck

I have like 1 per run every once in a while an it's the same user but different record every time. What is a category record in groupwise anyway?

I've never really looked into what causes this (or simply forgot as I don't think it's an important error to look out for), but maybe it's caused by a record that's initially created on something like a mobile device or other non-GroupWise client form, and thus does not get a default category field assigned to it. But that is just a wild guess really. Others might have info on what really causes this.

I've always assumed this is the category you can assign to an item in your mailbox so you can search or filter on that item by it's assigned category. An item will also get a the coloring that's set for the assigned category, so it also "jumps out" visually.

How often are running GWChecks? And which ones (structure vs contents)

for 'category record' think databases and how they are structured.
Basically one field in a record (message, contact, task, appointment,
etc...) Was missing any content, so a default was entered.

Given that is it always the same user, perhaps there is something funny
with the system they are running GroupWise on. A little TLC on that
system may well be worth the time, including making sure the client is
up to date and A/V is working properly but not against any caching
mailbox.

Ha! There's my thought on that out of the window... 🙂 Good to know what that category message is referring to.
