Problem with DMS and GWCheck

Hi There

Well, I'm a bit unsure what the problem is.
I have a library in the PO, and I can access the docs via the GW client.
But running the gwcheck gives these errors:

I have of course run the 'storelowercase', Tim even suggested copying
the gwdms dir to GWDMS, but that didn't solve it. All the databases are
in lowercase, the library is stored inside the PO.

I can't seem to find the documents when I access the library from the
Webaccess interface.

What can I check? Could I create a new library, and move the documents
to the new library and solve it that way?

Re: Problem with DMS and GWCheck

How many libraries do you have ?, the 91 errors refer to a second library
- the 2 at the end of all the file names, the missing file, problem 21, is
from the first library

Re: Problem with DMS and GWCheck

Now that could be the real problem, the 91s are pretty cosmetic to be
honest. But the problem 21 means you should have problems opening the
properties of any document where the doc number ends in 1. Now if do you,
then also watch out for any problem 52 in the GWCheck contents logs as you
may see these semi orphaned documents being exported from the system.

Let us know if you are in fact having problems with those documents

Cheers Dave

You are absolutely right, I get an error on all the documents I've tried
that ends in 1.

Open Document (E811)
Unable to read document record.
E811: The document or version does not exist or the user does not have
sufficuent document sharing rights.
Greve Library:311.Current

(this is doc 311 of course) 😉
The dmdd0101.db is in fact there, but the date of the file is old in
comparison with the other dmdd databases.

So I guess for some reason the database has dropped out of the dms
system?

How is that fixable 😮 ? The only TID i can find is 3704273 and that
looks kinda bad, and it even refers to a TID that I can't find when it
comes to libraries.

Re: Problem with DMS and GWCheck

Got a backup of that file from when it was a more reasonable size ?.

That TID, 3704273, is not related to this problem - this is a pure DMS
problem. TID 10053503 explains the problem better. Grab the demo copy of
my GWCheckl program from Caledonia.net, the pdf file that comes with that
also has a section on how to recover from this sort of problem

Cheers Dave

I'll have a look at the TID, and at your tool 🙂

Oh, and I only have backups of these files, nothing older than that 😮

Re: Problem with DMS and GWCheck

Yep, that looks reasonable for dmdd0101, pretty much on a par with the
other document data files

Re: Problem with DMS and GWCheck

What you will be missing now is the data references for any files ending
in 1 created since october 17th. The TID tells you what to run to get
those exported out from the actual library structure into directories
under the post office. Then hopefully the notes in my pdf file will help
you set up the import file you need to use the gwport32 import/export
widget to get these files back into the library under their original
numbers and authors.

Cheers Dave

Hmm, the problem arose after going to linux, and the explanations are
referring to netware / windows as far as I can see.
It finds the docs, and the docs have been put correctly into a structure
(as far as I can see).
The path is /.... on the Linux, and I think your nice software chokes on
that 😉

But it does parse the logfile, so there are a glimmer of hope here.

Could we talk further via e-mail? Otherwise my private mail address is
going to be published, and I'm not too keen on that 🙂

Re: Problem with DMS and GWCheck

Sure, drop me an email. You can create the import text file manually if
you have to. And it is probably best to try a couple of the rescued
document files first anyway, just to see how things work

But as long as you see the files under something like
<podir>/wpcsout/chk/libraryname/*, then you have the rescued files to play
with. That's the important thing, to have those files safe.

Cheers Dave
