(Re)enable TLS1.0 in GMS 18.2?

Jump to solution

Don't ask why please.

Can we, and if yes how, re-enable TLS1.0 in GMS 18.2?

@mrosen

Thanks Laura.

That's a bit unfortunate. is that official? As I assume GMS use official python libraries and openssl underneath, and as those haven't changed, I also assume it must be technically possible.

There might be devises or worse, MDM solutions out there that don't support TLS1.2 (yet)... 😉

Hi Massimo,

Warning you receive when launching the GMS 18.2 installation script:

"... GMS 18.2.0 and above has changed to
only allow TLS 1.2 connections from devices. This
may impact the ability to connect to GMS for some
older devices."

Cheers,

Laura.

Yes, I'm aware of that *by default* it only allows TLS1.2, and also that it's documented. That doesn't necessarily mean it's impossible to manually re-enable it. 😉 Even if it's possibly unsupported.

Hi Massimo,

Circle back to my original answer... as far as I am aware it is not possible to enable TLS1.0 on GMS 18.2.

Ok.

Here's a hint then: Microfocus may consider to document that their own Product ZMM 3.1 can no longer work against 18.2 activesync (as it connects using TLS 1.0).

Perfect, will test this, thanks.

Yes, I know ZMM is prettty EOL (despite having gotten patches after it's official EOL date), but it's not quite 8 years old yet.. 😉

given the findings discussed in a recent SANS InfoSec blog

https://isc.sans.edu/forums/diary/Is+it+Safe+to+Require+TLS+12+for+EMail/25270/

makes https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7024270 very useful
