Reoccurring Appointments?

I have some users (gw14.0.1 sp1/hp1 front & back end) that want to be able to set calendar entries a certain way. They say they are used to (in the outlook/exchange world) being able to set a reoccurring appointment to “forever”. It looks like GW is limited to 365 entries? They are finding that problematic especially when managing multiple calendars via proxy (no one ever remembers to set the appointment back up after it falls off). So is there a way to setup a reoccurring appointment to go for infinity?
Thanks!

I've never had a need for an appointment to re-occur that many times.
So I just tried and yes it appears to be a hardcoded limit. I assume
there is a good reason why it is limited, but that would take someone
who knows the inner workings of GroupWise to explain the reason. 365
seems a reasonable limit for a yearly or monthly re-occurrence. I'm
really not that concerned about a meeting in 30 years. 🙂 But I
could see where a higher limit makes a lot of sense for a weekly or
daily re-occurrence. Unless someone jumps in with a better solution,
all I can think of is to make an enhancement request.

Re: Reoccurring Appointments?

Just curious on the admin side (which is where I sit), when the user who calendars this "forever" event leaves the company, who can modify the event if it needs to get changed?

For a weekly occurrence the 365 times that would be 7 years worth if it would be set for one day in the week. So I guess a workaround could be to make 5 weekly appointments, one for each day of the week set to 365 occurrences.... and if really needed add another 5 the week after the first set ends, and so on. But that indeed is still not forever.

A very good question that someone could test out if they had the chance.
Because of the risk with this, some of my clients have simply made it
policy that such longer scale bookings are to be done by role accounts,
not regular users.

Other options to be to look at some of the 3rd party tools for managing
such things

Not any longer. I do believe that earlier versions allowed for that, but
somewhere along the line, it was determined that customers wanted to limit it.
You've gotten some good workarounds though - set the first one for 365, and then
set a new one starting at that cutoff for 365, etc.
