Replying to archived email replaces sender with my address

I have a client with a strange issue in Novell GW8. Whenever he tries to reply to an email in his archive it replaces the senders email address in the "to" field with his email instead of the original sender. This is only happening with archived email, anything else will reply to the sender no problem. Basically he will open or select an email that he wants to reply to, click reply, and the reply email will have his email as the sender and the recipient. What else is strange is that if you try to manually type the senders email into the recipient field it will still keep his email there as well (there is no way to remove his email from the recipient field). I have googled this but have been unable to find a fix. Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Replying to archived email replaces sender with my addre

Hi

Welcome to the forums and thank you for your question.

Back in the day when I was running GroupWise 8 I saw a few issues when working with archived mail. The only way I found to overcome these issues was to unarchive the mail first, then do what you need to do such as reply/forward/forward as attachment, etc.

Cheers,

Yeah, we are hoping to just get them on Outlook but they are stubborn. Me and one of the other techs were looking at it again last night and are just scratching out heads on this. It seems completley random, some of the emails reply fine and some have the issue. They are our only client that even uses GW and such an old version too its hard to get support. We are going to test today with unarchiving, etc.

So I just tried unarchiving a few emails that were having this issue. Once the emails are out of the archive, you are able to reply to them with no issues. As soon as I put it back in the archive, the issue comes back. Strange indeed.

Time to upgrade 😉 GroupWise 2014 R2 is leaps and bounds ahead of what you are working with which, might I add, is nearly 10 years old!
