Reporting/Printing Item List

When are they going to fix Printing Item lists. I'm using GW 7.01 and it
still doesn't work. Also It would be nice if there was a way to do
reports. Is there an OBDC driver or some way I can connect with a
reporting tool. Currently I have to take screen Shots, then OCR then
Import to a database so i can query, then run a report. Very time consuming.

Thanks,

C3POs on CoolSolutions are not officially supported Novell products. They
are created by various third parties (including some Novell employees who
like to putter), and as such there is no "they" other than the actual
"author" of that C3PO to be responsible to "fix it". A LOT of C3POs broke
when 6.5 came out, and the APIs changed dramatically.

That said, Advansys Formativ has a "Publish Message List" that is part of
the Productivity Pack.

Re: Reporting/Printing Item List

Danita,

Sorry is "print item list" a C3PO? I didn't realize I had installed it.
I thought it was part of my client.

I download Advansys Formative Productivity Pack and that didn't work. It
didn't allow me to pick the columns I needed. But I did download the
"DMS Meta Data Export" Cool solution and that did exactly what I needed.
Now I can put it in any query tool and get reports I need.

Cheers,

John Jakus

Yep - it was an add-in C3PO - they didn't just leave such a visible "broken"
item in the client for 2 versions 🙂

Sorry Formativ didn't work, but glad you got something that did!

Re: Reporting/Printing Item List

Danita,

It was a Cool Solution that uses Formativ Runtime. I still needed the
runtime but the "DMS Meta Data Export" is a cool solution that uses it.
Very nice. Exports any Library to csv. Then I can take it into Access or
any other query tool and do whatever I need.

Novell needs to fix the date fields in DMS:-( I have to convert them in
Access before they act as a date field.

Cheers,

By "fix" I assume you mean that it needs to recognize something other than
the "seconds since X" format? I mean it's not "broken" if you understand
the formatting, but it's annoying!

Re: Reporting/Printing Item List

It won't sort by date properly. When you export to anything else it is
more like text then a date.
