Rules seem to ignore brackets

When possible spam comes through our filter it gets marked with different tags in the subject. One Such tag is [MARKETING]. When I make a rule to move all new mail with that in the subject to a special folder, it also puts any new mail with the word marketing (without the brackets) in in that folder. How do I get it to honor the brackets?

Running 14.2.1 build 124595 client.
Post office & domain running 14.2.2 build 125072 (ftf)

thanks!

Re: Rules seem to ignore brackets

Hi Wallace,

If a rule has a condition set to "Contains" and you have [marketing] then understand that marketing without the brackets is still a match as it "contains" that word.

Am I making sense?

Re: Rules seem to ignore brackets

Thanks for the quick response, but I am unclear on how to get it to honor the brackets. Is there a way to do this?

Re: Rules seem to ignore brackets

Hi Wallace,

I personally don't know how to do this at this point. I will do some investigation. Also, I'm sure that folk more knowledgable than me will come back with further suggestions.

Cheers,

Re: Rules seem to ignore brackets

Hi Wallace,

I think I've figured this out. In your condition set the operator to "begins with" rather than "contains". Enter [MARKETING]. In my testing that appears to work.

Please give that a try and let us know how it goes.

Cheers,
