SLES11_SP1/1.2.4 -> SLES11_SP3/2.1.0 questions...
I attempted to apply SP1, followed TID to the letter, including Add-on product. Datasync 1.2.4_996 wouldn't start. I can rcdatasync status and got nothing. I didn't have time to troubleshoot so I reverted.
I am contemplating doing a wipe and fresh install using the "Block incoming devices" option.
Steps I plan on taking:
1 Image existing setup.
2 Wipe the box
3 Fresh install (including GroupWise Mobility Service?)
4 Configure same as previous install, same LDAP user, info, Trusted APP key, and certs, etc?
I assign users via a NDS group. Currently with 230 users.
Can I keep them all in there, add the group to the connectors, and just let it synchronize with the GroupWise connector before allowing devices to connect?
Or as in the past, put a small number at a time, and allow those to sync with the Groupwise connector before adding more to the group?

Hi,
Just a question... did you complete the entire server upgrade and then go back afterwards to do the Add-On product thing for GMS, or did you do it all together?
Please let us know.
Cheers,

All together just like this TID says:

Hi,
Perhaps I could point out that this TID, as I read it, is purely for updating the OS and not a simultaneous upgrade of GMS.
This is what makes me think this:
Personally, I always do OS and finish with the reboots etc, and then do the GMS upgrade. Doing both together has never worked for me.
Just my two cents worth 😉
Cheers,

This is what makes me think this:
Select CD and add the Mobility ISO as an Add-On Product. Change the media to the Mobility media and click Next. Instead of CD any other method could also be used. Use the Mobility ISO/CD of the same version, that is currently installed on the system at the time of the upgrade

Oh no, I did the same version along with the SP2 install via the ISO image on the box. My plan is to do sp2 -> sp3 -> then finally Datasync/Mobility 1.2.4 -> 2.1.0

Hi,
Apologise if I misunderstood you. Your statement "All together" made me think that you tried both upgrades together.
Check out the TID that Thomas has posted for you 😉
Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the TID Thomas, and both of you for your responses. I read the TID and it says at the bottom, under "cause" "TID 7007012 was not followed while upgrading SLES11 to SLES 11 SP2". TID 7007012 is for updating Mobility. I didn't update mobility. It doesn't seem to make any sense. But does give me options for my next attempt...

Just to follow up, this worked! I had to do the "fix" after sp1 -> sp2, but not after sp3 -> sp3. Also Mobility 1.2.4 did upgrade all the way to 2.1.0. Thanks for all the feedback and info!

Hi,
So glad that it finally all worked out for you. Thank you very much for posting back - that way we all learn 🙂
