Setup 1200 users

I was wondering how much Ram and disk space I would need to set up the mobility pack for potentially 1200 users.

Re: Setup 1200 users

Hi Thomas,

Take a look here at the recommendations made by Micro Focus: https://www.novell.com/documentation/groupwisemobility2014r2/gwmob2014r2_guide_install/data/inst_req_server.html

The top figures indicated are for 750 - 1000 and you want to go higher than that. I'd take the recommendations and at least go 1.5 x or even 2 x what is recommended.

Good luck with your deployment.

Cheers,
Laura Buckley

Assuming this is virtualized, as a part of your deployment, you might want to setup /var or var/lib/datasync as a
separate mount point to ease expanding it if needed and for general space management.

HI thanks for the ideas. Sorry I've taken so long to respond and thank. I got side tracked on another project.

Re: Setup 1200 users

I'm not crash hot with Linux 🙂 so, if I move var as you suggest I was thinking I could create my vm with two disks say disk1 of 20GB or 30GB to install lInux then and disk 2 of say 500GB and move var to that. Is that what you are saying?

We all have to start some where
so this link might be of some use to you as you learn

Yes, that is about right.
You probably do not need that much disk for your var mount point with the default settings. You can
start smaller and grow it as you need, though you do need to shut down GMS to do the growing.
Also make sure you have a GParted boot ISO in your boot ISO collection on your virtualization system.
What size you get to using within a couple weeks of all user activated will be close to what you need
longer term.
