Shared folder issue

We have a folder shared by 10 users or so and when a user reads the emails within, it will show on that workstation as being read but the other 9 still show that it's unread.

Because they haven't read it. IMHO it is working as designed.
What we do is, we move mails to a different folder once they've been read by someone.
