Sync Win Mobile 6.5 on port 444

Hi there,

As I have not enough public IP addresses I am forced to use a different port for our test sync server as port 80 and 443 are already taken by the GW Mobile server.

I created port 444 and got it working on my iPhone by entering the <servername>:444. When I try to do this in a Win Mobile 6.5 it removes the :444 as soon as I go to the next step in the configuration. Is it at all possible to sync on a different port?

Thanks.

Not really knowing anything about Windows Mobile, I just did some googling, and
everything I find seems to indicate that Windows Mobile does not allow you to
change the port! The latest I've found is for 6.0/6.1 in a post in 2008, so I
don't know if it's really still the case, but I've not found one hit yet that
indicates this is possible.

And then I found this from last year:

It really looks like it's a device limitation, and so even though the Mobility
Connector will happily listen on any port you choose, you wouldn't be able to
support Windows Mobile devices if you were to change it.

Can I ask which device are you testing your port issue on?

Thanks.

Re: Sync Win Mobile 6.5 on port 444

We use HTC HD2 devices and after reading the earlier comments it seems that there is a limitation to prot numbers. This means that I can only test my iPhone to start with. Thanks for your replies.
