Unable to open attachements

Hi Forum,

one user can't open attachments at all. Double click on them does nothing, regardless what type it is (pdf. excel, image, txt...) Also right click "open with..." doesn't work.
More test are done after removing and installing GW 2014.0.2 again.
It seems to be related with the windows roaming profile. AD is used for Windows authentication but Groupwise users run against eDir.
If some other users logs into Groupwise with the same windows profile he/she has the same effect.
Opening attachments work like expected, after login to windows with another account and then login to Groupwise with the problem user.

Is there a way to fix the windows profile?

Cheers,
Pascal

There's always a way to fix things in computers, the question is how
much time and effort you're willing to spend.

In this case, something must have severely borked the windows file or
mime type associations, and frankly, there must be more issues outside
of groupwise with this.

Let's try a few things: What happens when your user righ-clicks the
attachment and choe "open with"? Also, what, if anything, is shown on
mouseover of the attachments?

E.G, when I mouseover a pdf attachment in my groupwise client, it shows
the filename and the filetype in my case Foxit Reader PDF Document. That
is the mimetype as recorded in the local users registry. You can search
for it in the users registry and see what it is associated with.

Re: Unable to open attachements

Hi,

I did not get the chance to do any further tests. The problem went away over night...

Thanks so far,
Pascal
