Update Linux Agents

Hey,
we are running GW8HP1 on OES2. This is my first time for GW on Linux so I would like to know if updating the agents is as easy as on Netware? Just install new HP2 over old HP1?

thanks

Easier!

Literally run the ./install and then chose one (I always try the agents)
and it will prompt you to ask if you want to update all of the installed
GW software The answer is yes... 🙂

If you update, it will do the SDD as well and that will then prompt the
clients if you wish to d them too.

Re: Update Linux Agents

wow, that sounds indeed pretty easy.
Do I have to shutdown the agents before or is it similar to /copyonly on Netware?

would you say it is ok to use HP2 already on production servers?

Nope, no need to stop the agents first - because it's using the RPM
database the agents are in memory, you can change what is on the disk
quite easily. Install them all, then rcgrpwise stop Wait 2 mins (just
to be 100% sure (or use ps -e | grep gw)) and then rcgrpwise start and
you are done.

We will be doing our main production server today. Then again my Domain
and PO are running alpha code anyway 🙂
