Upgrade the SLES OS of GMS 2.1.0 system

Hi,

Monday we are upgrading the GMS 2.1.0 system to GroupWise Mobility Service 2014 R2 SP1.

As I understood we need SLES 11 SP4 for it.

Currently we are on SLES 11SP3.

What are the advised steps to upgrade the SLES11SP3 to SP4?

Do we have to check something that the GMS (addon) software is not overwritten?
I cannot find any steps in any documentation.

Thanks in advance,

Joeri

For upgrading SLES see here: https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7016711 and I believe you should add GMS (same version that is currently installed) as addon-image during the upgrade. After the OS upgrade you can perform upgrading GMS.

Re: Upgrade the SLES OS of GMS 2.1.0 system

Hi Thomas,

I opened an SR. They tell me it is not necessary to select an "addon-image" during the upgrade.

Advise from Novell:
"just boot from SP4 DVD and do upgrade of SLES11.
Then upgrade your old GMS by new GMS version ISO image available locally. Use YAST -> Patch CD option."

I hope that they are right 🙂

The online 'wagon' upgrade path as worked for me.
