Using Thunderbiard with Groupwise

I run openSUSE and have decided i really don’t like the Groupwise email client for Linux. Im looking to sync my calender to Groupwise Server in Thunderbird does anyone know how to do this? I have my directory pulled down for the address book and I imported my calender into Thunderbird at the start but i want it to sync so that i get all my alerts on the blackberry as usual. Is this possible? Has anyone else tried this?

If you use Thunderbird your only option will be POP/IMAP which
basically means e-mail only. It used to be that Evolution supported
connecting to GW via SOAP which gave you e-mail, calendar, and
contacts. I believe the Evolution folks may have dropped development
for this but it's worth taking a look if the support is still there.

Its still there, one of the guys in office uses Evolution. I just like using Thunderbird but its seems it doesn’t have the capabilities to connect to Groupwise. I exported both my calender and address book from Groupwise and put them in but like you said it doesn’t have SOAP support, just IMAP/POP. Plus the Linux client doesn’t even have an export function like the Windows one! I had to create a VM to export an address book. The Linux client seems to have fallen by the wayside and Windows/Mac clients are getting all the features and work done to them. Wouldn’t be looking else where if it was up to scratch.

It appears the evolution-grouwpise plugin development has pretty much dried up as well. OpenSUSE 12.3 just dropped it due to lack of development.
