WebAccess doesn't start

I've removed the antivirus from my GroupWise server, and since then I can't access webaccess.
Tomcat 6 doesn't snart. Manual start fails too.

Eventviewer only say: "The Tomcat 6 service terminated with service-specific error The operation completed successfully."

WebAcc runs on IIS7 and Windows2008R2.

Any suggestions? Should I reinstall?

Re: WebAccess doesn't start

Hi Jens,

Personally I would do a reinstall. But I would first make a backup of my webacc.cfg so that I have a copy of all my custom settings.

I find that if I start fiddling with what is broken already I often make a bigger mess of things and waste valuable time - but that's just me! When it comes to WebAccess a reinstall is quick and easy to do.

Cheers,

Svar: Re: WebAccess doesn't start

Hi Laura

Reinstall didn't fix it.
But!
Under "C:\Novell\tomcat6\logs" I found this:
[2015-10-22 06:35:56] [197 javajni.c] [error] The specified module could not be found.
[2015-10-22 06:35:56] [994 prunsrv.c] [error] Failed creating java C:\Novell\java\bin\server\jvm.dll
[2015-10-22 06:35:56] [1269 prunsrv.c] [error] ServiceStart returned 1
[2015-10-22 06:43:15] [197 javajni.c] [error] The specified module could not be found.

Further research showed Java had updated to a new version yesterday.
I removed java and reinstalled WebAccess again (with the original java-version).

Now it works. And I have disabled further Java-updates 🙂

Kind regards
Jens Jakob

Hi Jens,

I had not even considered Java updates on a Windows box to cause such issues - learning all the time 😉

Thank you so much for sharing this information with us.

Further proof that the latest isn't always the greatest.
