Webacc 18.2.1 grey screen

Jump to solution

OES2018sp2 with GW2018.2sp1, this server was upgraded from OES2015 with GW2014R2sp2

GW2018 is running fine with DOM, POA & GWIA, admin-console etc all running well.

Install webaccess and /gw/webacc page is blank grey screen, no error messages, no apparent problems, but no login box

Many thanks

The PAM and httpstkd issues were solved after I found this tid from SUSE:
https://www.suse.com/support/kb/doc/?id=000019434

However I am still unable to get webaccess to present anything other than a grey screen, so I have decided to bin it off and switch to the GW Web app on Docker, and so far that looks really encouraging.

All the best

Simon

Restart Apache2 and watch the error messages. In this case you are using a newer version of Apache (OES upgrade) but Apache has changed some statements - especially for access control.

The error messages will lead you to those conf-files which are still using the old notation. You have to fix these statements and Apache will run again. Of course WebAcess too.

Hi @valveamp300b

Go to this directory:  /opt/novell/grpwise-tomcat/webapps

Delete/rename the "gw" directory

Run the installation script again and then be sure to do the "configuration" as well.

Let us know the outcome.

Cheers,

Laura

Hi Diethmar

apache2 is running fine, iManager, iMonitor etc all working well, and restart apache2.service completes without issues

there were problems earlier yesterday with old broken conf files, but they are cleaned up

Hi Laura

I removed groupwise webacces and groupwise tomcat, cleaned out the old GW2014 gateway, conf files etc then did a re-install and re-config, all the other web services work ok, but GW webacc is grey box.

If I delete the gw directory, it is very quickly re-created automatically

the restart of grpwise-tomcat.service runs without errors, but the status afterwards has an entry in bold, if that means anything? "su[xxxxx]: (to grpwise-tomcat) root to none"

I have been able to activate the webacc admin console, and that works ok, except for the Help page which comes up Access Forbidden Error 403

Many thanks

/var/log/messages does contain some problems, which may or may not be related?

systemd[x]: novell-httpstkd.service: PID file /var/run/httpstkd.pid not readable (yet?) after start: No such file of directory

If I manually create the pid file, it just gets deleted on service restart and the same error comes up, I then tried to begin a restart and then create the empty pid file, but this didnt work either, and when the restart timesout it deletes the pid file.

also, during the tomcat restart, there is an error:

- starting User Manager for UID XXX...,

- Started Session cl1 of user grpwise-tomcat

user@XXX.service: Failed at step PAM spawning /usr/lib/systemd/systemd: Operation not permitted

- Started User Manager for UID XXX

hopefully this helps
