auto-accept appointments?

is it normal in GW8 that all appointments that I sent to myself are automatically accepted? No matter if there is a conflict with another appointment or not?

Yes. This change in functionality appeared with the GW8 client. It is
now assumed if you are sending an appointment to yourself that you know
your schedule and want to accept the appointment.

Is there a way to shut this off? Certain users like to have the paper
trail of the email, that they place in folders to track meetings.

Never mind, I should have checked the documentation first:

Tools -> Options -> Calendar -> General
Check: "On accept, continue to display the item in the Mailbox"

If there is a better/different way, let me know...but this works for us.

Actually, this isn't doing exactly what the users needs, as they do not
want it to auto-accept. So, the original questions is still there. Is
there a way to disable the auto-accept?

I'm looking for a fix for this as well. We have users who don't accept appointments to themselves until everyone else has accepted them, that way they can see from their inbox who's accepted it and who hasn't, and re-send it if necessary.

Re: auto-accept appointments?

I had inquired about this earlier and there is no way to disable the auto-accept. I have users who see this on v6.5 and v7.0 clients so it appears to happen at the PO level, regardless of client version.

I actually like this feature (it never made sense to me the old way), but some of my users can be rather averse to change.

Appointment acceptance can be tracked from the Sent Item, though I realize that this isn't viewable (by default) in the Mailbox.

I had one person insistent that they "wanted this program fixed, now!" (No, I didn't laugh. Out loud.) So I created for her a Find Results folder that displayed all Sent Appointments. She's happy now (and, in fact, likes it better...)

Re: auto-accept appointments?

I have users using the GW7.03 client and it auto accepts it for them, they want this feature turned off. The customer is not ready to move all clients to GW8 yet.

Any suggestions?

How about creating a rule that will send yourself an email that you have a conflict if you send yourself a conflicting appointment? That seemed to work for me.
