external GWIA for more than one GW System

Hi Groupwise Commuity,

I have the challenge to setup a GWIA hosted on a vServer at the Internet Provider.
This GWIA is supposed to handle all Internet Mails for 5 different Groupwise 2012 and 2014 Systems.

So, the setup for more domain names is easy. Also the link to more than one MTA in the same GW System.
But is it possible to set up an GWIA for more than one GW System???

thanks,
Tobi

That's not possible. A GWIA can only serve one system.

Can these systems be integrated at all? There was a way of connecting
external systems way back that might still apply, but it does require a
close connection between them. It is far enough on the edge of things that
you'll have to be really sure of the need for this.

Well, that depends. The GWIA can be the front-end for many different systems,
but will need to have a "private" GWIA to send to. For example, back in the old
days, I had an anti-spam service that used a GWIA as the "receiving" server for
20 different GW systems. It then sent the messages on to the proper location
via a route.cfg. So, if you can have a private GWIA for the other systems to
receive to, one GWIA can be the front-facing SMTP server for all of them. I
think this might be what the OP is actually looking for.

That's not possible.

So what are you trying to achieve, exactly? What I mean to say is that you have specified a solution, not a problem. What is the problem driving you to this solution?

Well, yes, you *can* do such a thing with a GWIA, right. But that's
outside of groupwise, and not really the core functionality of GWIA,
it's using soleley it's SMTP piece, but not the native connection to
groupwise. You know best I like GWIA better than most, and actually
still dislike frontending it with any type of relay host, but *that* is
a job better suited for postfix or the like.. 😉

I agree that Postfix would be a better choice. Just saying it's possible
🙂

Of course, knowing more about what the OP is trying to achieve would help
in advising him.
