linux agents --show init 3

I normally run my servers at runlevel 3. As best I can tell, you can't see
the mta/poa server consoles unless you first have the gui running (maybe I'm
wrong?) and start the agents with the --show switch.

A) Is that correct?
2) Is there a reason for that? Or is it worth and enhancement request?
(And don't tell me the web console is even a halfway decent replacement.)
C) Does anyone out there run the agents on linux with the server consoles
up?

Even in RL5 you won't see them console as they run in the background
(unless you start them manually). Use the webinterface instead

You wouldn't need the GUI, just enough consoles. And of course, you have
to login to them first.

Yes, that unfortuately ain't Netware. It's more like windows. To have
something you can see, you have to login first. You don't want to have
your GW run only when someone is logged into the server locally, right?

Probably not, but hey...

Surely only temporarily for testing and debugging purposes.

Re: linux agents --show init 3

I suppose (grumble, grumble) that most of the information on the server
console is actually in the web console. I just want the twirly bar I
guess.

Actually, the web console has much more information than the regular
console screen. But I miss the console anyways. 😉

Re: linux agents --show init 3

I *think* there's information missing -- though I agree the web console has
more information.

Probably the scrolling log is the most missed -- well all the real-time
updates (send/receive threads, for instance, in GWIA console).
