restoring notes

not sure if I'm are place to post this thread.
I was testing Outlook 2003 on my workstation. I've seemed to have lost all my contacts and all my notes.
I restored my backup but cannot find any notes or contacts

I'm running BEX for cluster backups.
my question is
are contacts and notes backed ?
