HP Cloud optimizer Console not accessible

Hi Mark,

My HP CO has been working smoothly from last one month, today also I received events from HP CO for ESXi monitoring.

However, I m unable to access the console of the HPE CO.

URL used: https://10.xx.xx.xx:8444/PV

Port 8444 is open from the web client machine.

HP CO is running properly.

Re: HP Cloud optimizer Console not accessible

Hello Hanumant,

It sounds like this is a firewall issue.  There is either a firewall active on the CO server or between them that has port 8444 blocked.

Based on the output of the "pv status" command, which includes a portion of the tomcat log file, it appears to be running.  CO uses Tomcat for the web interface.

I don't know if there is a browser (Ex. Firefox) that is installed on your CO server.  You could try to run it locally on the system, which would address firewalls on the network.

I hope that this helps.

Regards,

Mark

Re: HP Cloud optimizer Console not accessible

 Hi Mark,

I have tried IE, Chrome, Firefox.

Telnet from my client machine to the CO server on port 8444 is working fine, still console is not opening.

Any suggestion?

This is not firewall issue, as both servers are in same network segment.

Regards,

Hanumant

Re: HP Cloud optimizer Console not accessible

Hello Hanumant,

Just because the two servers are on the same network does not mean it cannot be a firewall issue.  It could be a firewall issue on the local system.  In either case, I probably is not at the current time.

There are two things that are a possibility based on the output that you provided.

  • OV Tomcat is not running
  • Disk space is filled up because tracing is enabled.

To see if the OV Tomcat is running or not, run the "/opt/OV/bin/ovc -status" command.   You should see the output like the following:

# ovc -status
hpcsrvd     HPCS Server                         AGENT,OA     (1222)   Running
ovbbccb     OV Communication Broker             CORE         (1194)   Running
ovcd        OV Control                          CORE         (1186)   Running
ovtomcatB   OV Tomcat(B) Servlet Container      WEB,SERVER   (16792)  Running
pvcd        PV Core                             PV           (32156)  Running

The ovtomcatB should be running.  If it is not, then run the command "ovc -start ovtomcatB".

If tracing is enabled, there may be the possibility that it could fill up the disk.  Depending on the type of tracing that is enabled, it does not automatically roll over but could go until the disk is full.  If this is the case, then the /var/opt/OV/log/pvtrace.0.txt or pvtrace.1.txt files will be vary large.  It may be necessary to delete them, restart the application (pv restart) and then disable tracing.

I hope that this is helpful.

Regards,

Mark
