At Micro Focus, we’re excited about the future of our IT operations software. We’re introducing a new architecture based on our Container Deployment Foundation that will change the game for Enterprise IT operations management. Our goal is for customers to experience zero downtime upgrades, faster time to value, flexible deployment options, and more. Today I want to discuss a single component – micro service-based scaling of monitoring.

While the Operations Bridge Suite is known for its ability to deliver analytics-driven, automated monitoring and event management, the component that has made OpsBridge truly famous is the Business Value Dashboard (BVD). The BVD enables collaboration between IT and the business like never before with its unique IT dashboard. With the Business Value Dashboard, IT teams can show executives and employees a clear link between IT performance and business outcomes, in real-time, tablet-ready dashboards.

Now thanks to the new micro-services architecture, the Business Value Dashboard is even more capable of helping IT pros meet the needs of dynamic workloads.

Seeing the value of monitoring

Here’s a simple scenario to illustrate the new value of the Business Value Dashboard. Imagine you are commissioning a new app, deploying a new service, or deploying monitoring for the first time on an existing service. Your monitoring needs will naturally be more intense as you test, gather data and ensure that everything works properly.

For each business service, monitoring needs could easily expand to hundreds of monitored metrics (in as real-time as possible). Visual representations will help reveal where the weak links are. This is just one example of the value of easy and fast scaling.

With an architecture that leverages micro-services, the limits that were built into monolithic software deployments are a thing of the past. Do you need more monitoring to support a new launch? Our container-based, micro-services allow you to fire up another instance of the BVD, performance engine and you’re ready to confront the unknown.

If you’re responsible for an app or the service it supports, it is your job to make sure it works well from the start—no matter what unexpected use occurs later on. Do you experience seasonal patterns, new initiatives or unpredictable events? You must be able to dynamically scale monitoring to support shifting workloads. BVD and Performance Engine are engineered as micro services, so IT teams can scale monitoring as appropriate.

The Business Value Dashboard and Performance Engine offers:

  • With custom integrations and graphing,
  • Flexible dashboards that can be accessed from any device, and
  • A scalable architecture that can handle any user demands,

You’ll be able to access relevant information that will aid in decision-making and help you improve business outcomes.
