What do Micro Focus Data Protector release notes, community forums, installation guides, video tutorials, and a whole host of other helpful product resources all have in common? They are all found in the brand new Data Protector Documentation Portal!
The new Documentation Portal was released earlier this year alongside Data Protector version 10.03, and it replaces our legacy PDF-based documentation library. The portal brings together all of the available Data Protector resources in one easy-to-access, easy-to-query help center—no sign-on required. The result is an enhanced and streamlined user experience that is standardized across the Micro Focus IT Operations Management (ITOM) portfolio.
Let's Take a Quick Tour
To access the documentation home page for Data Protector, select the "Data Protection" quick link from the main Documentation Portal. From the listing of product releases available for Data Protection, select version 10.03, the first Data Protector release available in this new format. This takes you to the documentation home page for Data Protector 10.03, where there are ten resource categories for you to explore.
Each resource category offers a variety of materials. For example, the Troubleshoot category features documents that cover more than 15 general troubleshooting topics. Each of these topics branch into additional subtopics, and so on.
All content is searchable from within the portal's interface—and is even indexed by search engines--making it available from standard web searches too. Find something you like? A quick click on the PDF dropdown in the upper right corner lets you generate PDF files on demand, for future offline reference.
And while the portal currently only supports English, support for four additional languages is slated for later this year. At that time, multi-language content will be accessible from the language dropdown located right next to the PDF icon.
In addition to a comprehensive documentation library, the portal also features many collaborative community features, as shown below.
Ask (or answer) Data Protector questions in the community discussion forums, voice (and vote on) ideas for improving Data Protector in the recently launched Idea Exchange, or even offer feedback for a piece of content. When you engage with these interactive areas of the portal, you not only have direct access to Micro Focus subject matter experts, but you also have access to other knowledgeable users like yourself who are willing to share their experiences with you.
