The Open Group IT4IT Reference Architecture is a standard reference architecture for managing the business of IT in a vendor-neutral and technology-agonistic manner. It uses a value chain approach to create a model of the functions that IT performs to help organizations identify the activities that contribute to business competitiveness.

The IT4IT Reference architecture standard consists of the IT value chain with four value streams and a three-layer reference architecture.

The four value streams help IT control the service model through the lifecycle:

  1. The strategy to portfolio: drive IT portfolio to business innovation
  2. The requirement to deploy: build what the business needs, when it needs it
  3. The request to fulfill: service catalog, fulfill and manage service usage
  4. The detect to correct: anticipate, prevent and resolve production issues

In our next service management webinar on January 31, we will discuss how IT4IT reference architecture enables a smoother digital transformation. We will drill down into third value stream, and you will learn how an automated request-to-fulfill value stream can help you deliver seamless IT service consumption.
