The ITOM Adaptive Backup & Recovery (ABR) team is proud to announce the general availability of Micro Focus VM Explorer v6.6.
This release focused on expanding upon the recently added HPE StoreOnce Catalyst integration.
Here are some of the key highlights of the release:
File Level Recovery from HPE StoreOnce Catalyst
You can now perform File Level Recovery from VM Explorer backups stored on HPE StoreOnce Catalyst stores. This enables customers more flexibility in their recovery options and a faster recovery time.
Instant VM Recovery from HPE StoreOnce Catalyst
VM Explorer 6.6 now supports the ability to perform IVMR sessions from backups stored on HPE StoreOnce Catalyst stores. IVMR enables customers to get up and running quickly without having to perform a restore first.
Microsoft Exchange GRE from HPE StoreOnce Catalyst
You can now perform an email item/folder/mailbox recovery from VM backups that are stored on HPE StoreOnce Catalyst stores.
Backup larger VMs to Microsoft’s Azure cloud
Microsoft Azure backup size limit has been increased from 195GB to 4.7TB, in-line with Microsoft’s newly supported limits. This enables customers to protect larger VMs offsite to the Microsoft cloud.
The User Guide now has a new section focused on troubleshooting the most common issues, enabling customers to resolve problems faster without having to contact Support.
Fixed defects include:
- Microsoft Exchange GRE is now supported on Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 CU5
- Opening a Microsoft Exchange 2013 database in German
- Unrecognized German characters in Microsoft Hyper-V
- Backup of VMs which contained a blank space at the end of the VM name
- Transfer size and transfer rate was inaccurately displayed
- Attempting to perform a clone on ESXi when the agent is not enabled
Feedback from HPE Storage Division product management:
“The ongoing integration of StoreOnce Catalyst into VM Explorer continued without interruption through the spin-merge of many of HPE’s software titles, including VM Explorer, into Micro Focus.”, said Ian Blatchford, HPE StoreOnce Product Manager. “It’s been another successful collaboration to extend, the already highly functional integration delivered with VM Explorer 6.5.”
