What’s new in Operations Bridge Suite 2017.08: Here are the highlights of the latest release
- Google Cloud Platform monitoring with new OMi Management Pack for Google Cloud
- Expanded Log collection content for Docker, Amazon Web Services and Windows event logs
- Extended SAP HANA monitoring, now supporting new SAP HANA architecture, SAP HANA 2.0 and Tenant DB monitoring

Google Cloud Platform monitoring with new OMi Management Pack for Google Cloud
The new management pack for Google Cloud offers monitoring of key CPU, disk and network metrics for Google Cloud Compute Engines and offers topology discovery and out-of-the-box performance dashboards. The topology discovery populates the Run Time Service Model (RTSM) with Google Project Resource CIs, Region and Locations, Compute Instances, Instance Groups, Associated Disk and Interfaces.
The MP is also able to integrate Google Cloud activity logs into OMi, which helps you to track events that affect your project, such as Compute Instance API calls, Operation logs and System events.

Extended SAP HANA monitoring
The OMi Management Pack for SAP HANA 2.0 now supports SAP HANA 2.0 and Tenant DB monitoring.

OMi Management Pack for WebLogic 2.0 now contains new Performance dashboards and monitors additional key metrics for Grid Link and the JDK Garbage Collection:

Operations Connector for Icinga
Icinga, a fork of the Nagios systems monitoring tool, can now be integrated into OMi using the Operations Connector for Icinga 1.0. It integrates Icinga nodes and events from an Icinga 2.5 system into OMi. The connector policies can be easily installed on an OMi system and deployed from there to an Operations Connector system.
Expanded Log collection content
With Operations Bridge Suite 2017.04 we introduced log collection (also known as log streaming) for Operations Bridge Analytics using the Operations Agent and shipped an example policy for Linux syslog log collection.
With this new release we are adding out-of-the-box log collection policies for Docker, Amazon Web Services and Windows event logs.
Furthermore, to simplify log collection, several enhancements have been implemented in the Operations Agent 12.04, like the $TIMEZONE variable, that is now also used in the updated Linux syslog log collection policies. This means that when deploying those policies, the user is no longer asked to provide the time zone.
To get the latest log collection content, please download the corresponding log collection add-on packages from the ITOM Marketplace. Note: make sure to select the latest release, then download the new add-on package (or the complete package if you don’t have the management pack installed yet at all).
All Add-On packages can be uploaded using the Content Pack Administration UI.
Operations Bridge Bot 2.0
The OpsBridge Bot has been designed to collaborate with the Operations Bridge Suite capabilities. The Bot allows authorized users to receive relevant events in the chat room, trigger actions to troubleshoot and fix issues, list available OBR reports, request reports, and escalate events to a ticketing system. The OpsBridge Bot also works with Slack and Mattermost. See also this blog article for more details: Accelerating Operations with report access via ChatOps in Operations Bridge suite 2017.08.

BVD enhancements (BVD 10.62)
Widget Group. BVD 10.62 introduces a new widget type: the Widget Group. The Widget Group displays a dynamic list of individual widgets within one widget container. This dynamic list allows you to keep your dashboard up-to-date as you introduce new services or retire old ones. It can also be used to display the status of only those services that have a problem.

Operations Manager i (OMi) enhancements (OMi 10.62)
Run command line tools without manually entering credentials. You can now store your username, password, java keystore location, and java keystore password in an encrypted file, which is then accessed by OMi command line tools. This enables you to run commands without entering credentials manually each time.
New CLIs. OMi 10.62 comes with the following new CLIs, which enable CLI-based end-to-end policy management:
opr-template. The opr-template command-line interface enables you to edit policies outside of the OMi policy editor interface. With the tool, you can download a policy from OMi to a location in your file system, then edit the policy and upload it again.
opr-config-tool. With the opr-config-tool command-line interface, you can list, delete, update, and group templates, aspects and management templates. Additionally, you can now use the CLI tool to add templates to an aspect and preview which new aspects and management templates would be created if the latest template versions were included.
opr-assign. The opr-assign command-line interface enables you to create, update, list, delete, disable and enable management template and aspect (automatic) assignments. You can create assignments for the latest version of an aspect or management template, or you can create an assignment for a specific aspect or management template version.
Using these CLIs it’s now possible to do mass changes in policy templates (like adding a custom attribute or introducing a new parameter in multiple policy templates). It is also possible to update aspects and management templates which contain these policy templates and then to deploy those changes by updating or creating new assignments.

Send notifications to SMTP servers using TLS. Notifications can now also be sent to SMTP servers that use TLS. To do this, four new SMTP settings are available. You can either use a wrapped TLS connection in order to connect to a secure SMTP server (port 465), or you can use the connection upgrading capabilities via starttls (port 587 or 25).

Event Browser (HTML) enhancements. The Event Browser (HTML) has been enhanced to include the following new features:
Column dividers. You can add lines between the columns in the Event Browser (HTML) to better distinguish between the separate columns. You can modify this setting in the Options panel.
User-based coloring. You can use a font color on an event row based on whether or not the event is assigned to you. You can modify this Highlight setting in the Options panel.
Severity based coloring. You can color the row of an event based on the event's severity. You can also modify the intensity of the colors, and you can decide if you want to apply the coloring to all events, or only to some (events assigned to you, or unassigned events). You can modify this Row coloring setting in the Options panel.
Revert Options panel settings. In the Options panel, you can click at any point to reset to defaults. This reverts the following settings: row coloring setting, displayed columns, and column sorting.
Editable fields in Event Details. You can edit some properties of the Event Browser (HTML) directly in the Event Details. For example, you can edit the Title, the Description, and the Solution of an event by clicking Edit in the Event Details.
More HTML5 Administration UIs
HTML5 External Instructions, Custom Actions, and Event Processing Customizations. OMi 10.62 includes HTML5 implementation of External Instructions, Custom Actions, and Event Processing Customizations screens. The new layouts are not only elegant and intuitive but also provide better navigation.

Support for all CI properties in conditional dashboards. Prior to OMi 10.62, only CI properties of Boolean type were supported for creating conditional dashboards. However, with OMi 10.62, you can create a conditional dashboard based on any CI property, which allows you to provide meaningful dashboards for different CIs. For example, different dashboards for hosts hosted in AWS or Azure.
Operations Agent as default data source. If the value is true, Operations Agent data is graphed on the Performance Dashboard even if the “Monitored by” property for the node CI is not “OM”. This is useful if Operations Agents are not directly connected to an OMi server and if the OM topology synchronization is not used.
Custom Auto-Refresh. Starting with OMi 10.62, you can specify a custom time to auto-refresh the performance dashboards.
Auto-Refresh in Favorites. You can now enable auto-refresh for Favorites and specify the auto-refresh time.
Add CI Comparison charts to Favorites. You can now add charts on CI Comparison dashboards to Favorites, which enables you to quickly visualize the comparative performance metrics of the CIs, along with the other charts in a Favorite.
Support for dynamic monitor related metrics for SiteScope. Performance Dashboard has been enhanced to support graphing of "SiteScope Measurement" type.
Export CSV support for process tables and intuitive column layout in exported CSV. The Export CSV option is now supported for tables, graphs, and process tables. Also, the exported CSV is available in a more readable format.
Labels for pie charts. Pie charts are now displayed with labels for metrics. You can hover over the pie chart to see the percentage value of each metric. This feature is especially useful when there are a large number of metrics in a pie chart or the colors that represent metrics are similar.
Gigabytes and Megabytes supported as units. These two units are newly added in Performance Dashboard > Axis and Grid > Unit > Data section.
Clear Filter option in process tables. You can use the Clear Filter option in the process tables to clear the filter criteria and start a fresh search.
Fixed headers. Performance Dashboards now have fixed headers. When you scroll down the screen, all the UI options in the header such as Configure Dashboard and Date Range Panel are visible. Now you no longer have to scroll up to see these options.

Operations Bridge Reporter enhancements (OBR 10.21)
Topology Migration Tool: OBR 10.21 patch contains scripts and tools to migrate your topology source from OM to OMi. For more information, see Topology Source Migration (OM to OMi).
OML and OMi policy templates: OBR 10.21 patch includes Operations Manager for Linux (OML) and Operations Manager i (OMi) policy templates to monitor OBR services. For more information, see OML Policies to Monitor OBR and OMi Policies to Monitor OBR.
Operations Bridge Analytics (OBA 3.02)
Custom collections. You can now use the opsa-custom-collection.sh tool to collect data from sources that do not use one of the predefined collection templates. The tool enables you to create, delete, or list custom collection templates, and ultimately register and publish the custom collection templates so that a new Kafka topic will be created for the data ingestion. For more information on creating custom collections, see the OBA Online Help.
Documentation Web Portal. The Operations Bridge Suite online help, as well as the online help of many contained software products, is now available on a new software documentation portal. To access the portal, visit docs.software.hpe.com. As before, all documentation is also available on Software Support Online. In this release, online help for two Operations Connectors for Microsoft SCOM and Micro Focus Systems Insight Manager have been added to the Operations Connector help, see the Integrate section.
Interactive OMi Integrations section. The OMi online help now allows you to select what type of integration you want to establish and then provides the corresponding integration steps:
Support matrix enhancements
The classic-deployment of the suite now supports Microsoft Windows Server 2016 (Standard and Datacenter Edition) for OMi, OO and UCMDB.
These now also support the latest version of Microsoft SQL Server as Database: Microsoft SQL Server 2016.
Operations Bridge Analytics now ships the new version of Vertica 8.1.1, which is now also supported by the Operations Bridge Performance Engine, Cloud Optimizer and Operations Bridge Reporter (OBR contains Vertica 8.0.1, which can be upgraded to 8.1.1.).

Container-based deployment enhancements
Some limitations of our very first container suite 2017.04 have been removed in 2017.08. It’s now possible to enable firewalls on all nodes during and after the installation and DNS for name resolution is no longer a must. For more details see Enable firewall on a running node and Set up a host name resolution using a hosts file.
High availability: support of multiple master nodes. You can now deploy the Operations Bridge Suite in a multiple master/worker node setup. By deploying multiple master nodes, you can ensure a high availability of your system so that service is continuous despite power outages and machine downtime.
BVD reconfiguration. You can now reconfigure BVD and the suite defaults after the first configuration via the Management Portal. For information about reconfiguring BVD, see Reconfigure.
Updated product containers. The Operations Bridge Suite 2017.08 includes new containers for the products OMi, BVD, OBR, and PE. They include product-specific features like new OMi Event Browser (HTML) functionalities, new OMi CLIs, a BVD widget group, and an OBR Topology Migration Tool, as described in the other sections of this article.
