Hi,
Is it possible to write a custom scirpt for scanners to run in virtual AIX environments, to manage HMC and directors.
We have the scripts for AIX but we need that scipt to run on DDMi.
Thanks in advance.
Regards.

Hi Cem
In HP DDMI 6.0 Scanners now capture virtualization related attributes from HP-UX Virtual Partitioning (vPar) and IBM AIX Logical Partitioning (LPAR). These hardware attributes provide comprehensive information about the relationships and resources used by virtual machines. This information is populated in the hwOSContainerProperties table in the Reporting database.
For more information, refer to the â Virtualization in DDM Inventoryâ chapter in the Reference Guide.
Hope this helps..

Re: DDMi custom scanner scripts for virtual AIX environments.
You can write a script, have it create output to a file and have DDMI collect the file.
If you haven't already you should also file an enhancement request to have DDMI support AIX environments if there is not already one filed.

Re: DDMi custom scanner scripts for virtual AIX environments.
Thanks for your answer Matthew,
Is there an documentation about DDMi's reading external file ? (Custom scripts output).
I will make an enhancement request about this subject.

Re: DDMi custom scanner scripts for virtual AIX environments.
DDMI .xsf scan file format is actually .xml.gz. Just change the file extension and it will work as you expect.

Re: DDMi custom scanner scripts for virtual AIX environments.
Thank you both for your answers.
I will check DDMi 6.0 and xsf file.
Best Regards.

Re: DDMi custom scanner scripts for virtual AIX environments.
Hi Lovi,
We are using DDMi version 7.50. The version you mention is 7.60 or 6.0 ?
If it is DDMi 6.0 then 7.50 should have that virtual AIX scanning function as well. But I could not find it in the whole documentation.
We need a function like in ESx WM's. Install it on main machine then it should find the virtual AIX's on it. It should say the resource occupation as well.
Thank you,
Regards..
