Adding a unique Alphanumeric number on creation of Identity

Hi Guys

I have a unique situation which i hope someone may help with some
ideas. My client would like to generate a unique "employee"number on
creation of a user identity into the vault.Currently the source of other
attributes(database) that will formulate the full identity is not able
to add the extra column to accommodate a unique number. Please note that
the customer wants another unique number in the user identity apart from
the primary key that the driver uses.
Now my question is , is there a way in the driver that you can add this
attribute to the user identity and add the number as well(counter of
some sort) so that when the final identity appears in the directory it
has a number. Is it possible for the driver to do a counter of these
numbers so that they follow a pattern and are consistently unique.

regards

TM

Use an attribute on the driver, anything that can hold a string or an
integer and is not in use, or add an Aux class with a new attr.

Store the current high water mark there. Then every time it needs to
issue a new one, read the current high water, add one, write it back,
use it on the user.

LOts and lots of different ways to do this.

There is an example in an old driver config used for LUM on the
UnixConfig object. Otherwise this is all customization though really
pretty easy stuff.

I'll let Geoff talk to the details.

Good luck.
