Branding of OSP 6.x

Since the whole branding and localization of OSP has changed completely
I am wondering if somebody could help me!

Starting with OSP 6.x the localization AND branding is done by modifying
the properties files within osp-custom-resources.jar

According localization it is not so hard to find out, which strings have
to be modified - but the number is hough compared to the ones to be
configured in the first release shipping with IDM.

But as hard as I try I do not find the string to change "NetIQ Access"
in the login mask to something different!

When it comes to branding it was quite simple with the old OSP to
provide an custom css file with configupdate - but this does not work
anymore.

Has anybody managed to introduce a corporate logo on the top of the
login mask?

Regards

Greetings,
From my upcoming Tech Doc:

Add an image

1. Make a copy of the osp-custom-resource.jar and save it some where
safe in your environment

2. Copy the osp-custom-resource.jar to a temporary directory

3. Extract the osp-custom-resource.jar making sure to maintain the
folder structure

4. Copy your image to the images folder

5. Open the properties file for the language that you want to update
a) For Example: resources/oidp_enduser_custom_resources_en_US.properties
b) Find the following property: OIDPENDUSER.LoginProductImage
c) Uncomment the entry and update the image name with the one from
step #4 above
1) For Example:
From:
#OIDPENDUSER.LoginProductImage=company_img.png
To:
OIDPENDUSER.LoginProductImage=netiq_logo_small.png

d) Save and close the file

6. Repeat Steps #5 as necessary

7. Utilizing the jar –uf command, update the osp-custom-resource.jar
with the updated properties file and image. You have to keep the folder
structure.
a) For Example:
jar -uf osp-custom-resources.jar
resources/oidp_enduser_custom_resources_en_US.properties
images/netiq_logo_small.png

8. Copy the updated osp-custom-resource.jar to the %tomcat%/lib
directory and replace the one that is there (if it exists)
a) For Example: /opt/netiq/idm/apps/tomcat/lib/

9. Restart Tomcat

Re: Branding of OSP 6.x

Dear Steven,

thank you so much for helping!

It is working now. The corporate logo and the changed Name (String) show
up.

Now there is one more question. Both the image and the text are centered
vertically in the cells of the table.
Is there a way to configure the text to go to the bottom of the cell?
I am guessing that there is no way to render the Text (Company Name)
under the logo, is it?

Kind regards,

Thorsten

Greetings,
I would believe you could accomplish this via custom css (like
changing the background color or having the "header" area resize based
upon the image size).

I have not tried that yet, but would expect that you could do it.
When working on css, I utilize firebug in Firefox. Make sure to turn on
live edit. This way you can make your change in the css in the browser
and see it live. Once you have it the way you want, copy out those
couple of css entries and put them into your custom css file.

Re: Branding of OSP 6.x

Thank you so much for your help!

Finally we found nearly everything to configure in either the custom css
file and/or the language specific properties files.

Sometimes it is not quite clear when to use the one or the other, since
some settings available trough the custom css file are available in the
properties files as well.

Can you provide a hint on this fact?

The only thing we were not able to configure is the color of the border
(login button/forgotten password). We found the setting
OIDPENDUSER.LoginLoginButtonFocusBorderColor=#A4A4A4
in the properties file and
..inputbox-focus {
outline: 2px solid #A4A4A4;
}
..mini-button {
padding: 2px 4px;
margin-top: 3px;
font-size: 13px;
color: #808080;
white-space: nowrap;
-moz-border-radius: 2px;
-webkit-border-radius: 2px;
-khtml-border-radius: 2px;
border-radius: 2px;
text-decoration: none;
border: 1px solid #ffffff;
background: inherit;
}
..mini-button:focus {
border: 1px solid #A4A4A4;
}
..login-button button:focus {
border: 1px solid #A4A4A4;
}
in the css

But all the changes we did to the files do not have any effect on the
login mask. (in this case the customer would prefer a gray color instead
of the blue one)

Regards,

Thorsten

Greetings,
You will make the change in the css. Here is my example for
"login" button:

..login-button button:hover {
background: #f6f9f8 none repeat scroll 0 0;
border: 1px solid #ff0000;
color: #000099;
}

This will make the border red and the text purple when you click on the
button.

Greetings,
To accomplish this, you will need to update the property

#OIDPENDUSER.LoginProductImageAndNameStackVertically=false

to

OIDPENDUSER.LoginProductImageAndNameStackVertically=true

in the Login Page properties section in

oidp_enduser_custom_resources_%lang%.properties

Then follow the same steps as before.

Really looking forward to that upcoming tech docs, seems it's all there, just
nobody (except you) knows (yet).

mspaint.exe can help you with that... (or gimp if you are a Linux groupie like
Aaron... 🙂

or anybody with a soul. mspaint is the worst program for anything
image-ish; gimp runs on lesser OS's too. 🙂

Finally we were happy with the text on the right - If we have to change
this I will follow your advice and work on the image - with what ever
application 😉

No, paintbrush is worse - and (only?) runs on an even lesser OS.

Just try for yourself: https://archive.org/details/win3_stock
