Cleaning Script and strange results 4.0.2 Patch 1 20121128

Hi there,
I'm using Analyzer 4.0.2 with Patch 1 build 20121128 and I'm using the
cleaning script example found in section 3.9.2 of the documentation to
change upper to lower case characters in email addresses.

Code:
--------------------
//From Section 3.9.2 of Analyzer Admin 4.0.2. KMaule 3 Oct 2013

aimReturnStatus = true;
aimReturnValue = aimValue;

if (aimValue != null)
{
lower = aimValue.toLowerCase();
if ( !aimValue.equals(lower) )
{
aimReturnStatus = false;
aimReturnValue = lower;
}
}

--------------------

Works great to modify the data in the column in question (email) but
when I then sort on any column the previously modified data changes so
that one bogus value is found in almost all cells. The error log is
showing multiple exceptions as well after this.
