Customizing display settings - UA 4.0.1

I'm sure this is in the docs, but I can't seem to find the right
section.

So a new user logs into the IDM 4.0.1 UA and gets the "bar" that says:

Welcome firstname Identity Self-Service Work Dashboard
Logout Help

I know how to remove the navigation access for Identity Self Service,
but if you remove the Work Dashboard, you get errors. I'm assuming I'll
have to construct a page with JUST the workflow/form I'm creating in
Designer to accomplish that (to safely remove the work dashboard)?

The other item is we'd like to remove SOME of the items in the little
box where the user full name, picture and email address are (I don't
know the term for that window/box).

Specifically:

Remove the picture
Remove the "settings" item and rename the:
Make a process request (if possible)

Or is that a portlet, and we either get it all or not?

If all this is covered in the docs (again, I found the section on the
navigation permissions), posting the link would be fine as well, but I
couldn't seem to find it.

Greetings Kevin,

1) Overall, you have to show the users either the Identity Self Service
Tab or the Work Dashboard. You can not remove both. Also you can not
create a new custom page.

2) To remove the image on the Work Dashboard, you will need to create
your own custom theme and not include the image to be mapped. In
version 4.0.2 you can handle this by not including it in a custom xml
file that would be placed in the "conf" directory under jboss

3) To change the text of "Make a Process Request", you need to follow
the steps for "String Customization as outlined in Administration Guide:

https://www.netiq.com/documentation/idm402/agpro/data/bg1knuk.html#bf0ilcg

4) To Hide the "Settings" button for "users".
Login as the admin -> Administration -> RBPM Provisioning and Security
-> Navigation Access Permissions -> Select "Settings" under the Work
Dashboard category.

You can then remove the container assignment and then set it to what you
would like and then press the Save button.

If you do not plan on using the Work Dashboard then you can hide if via
the same steps as outlined in #4. You would then set the Identity Self
Service tab as the default and users will not get an error when they try
to login.

Hmm, strange as apparently I've been able to do the items you said
cannot be done.

I've got another UserApp server in the test lab (4.0.1) where I was able
to create a new page (or changed the default container page) and removed
both the navigation items (it shows no identity self service, and no
work dashboard), along with the picture thingy and it shows my form.

No errors either.

Guess I'll have to figure out how I did that (since apparently I didn't
screenshot/document anything).

Ah, okay so it seems in order to do this (at least in 4.0.1) one can:

1) Take the Guest Pages -> Welcome and make it as the default container
page or something
2) Edit the content on said page so that it only has the:
Novell Identity Manager Introduction (can probably remove that)
Welcome Message
and a copy of the Request portlet
3) Make a copy of the request portlet, customize it so it only has
"your" request on it (I guess this should be #2)

Then just send the users to the URL with the container page.

I've not tried with an authenticated user yet

Greetings Kevin,
There is a different between Guest Access and "Authentication"
access. There are a lot of different ways to resolve this.
