Designer 4.5 not able to deploy/import driver and workflow

Hi all,

I installed Designer 4.5 but I discover I am not able to deploy/import
anything.
My PC spec is as follow.
Windows 7 64-bit
Ram: 8GB

Anyone experience the same thing? Can you share with me how you fix
this?

Thanks

Re: Designer 4.5 not able to deploy/import driver and workflow

I did not experience the same but do check / remove conflicting nici
packages if you have previous installs of designer.

Hi,

first of all no, I do not have problems like this running the new
Designer on WIN7-64bit.

Are you able to login to the IDM-Tree from the properties of the
Identity Vault object? In the past I flound that all problems regarding
deployment were solved by refreshing the connection by clicking on the
corresponding button in the properties of the Identity Vault object.

If this is not the case maybe the Installation of designer went wrong?

Have you applied the most recent patch for Designer?
Was the Novell Client or an older version of Designer already installed?

Hi All,

Yes. I have an older version of Designer installed in different path.
Is it this is why I hit this?

Thanks.

Re: Designer 4.5 not able to deploy/import driver and workflow

I tried to remove both Designer and reinstall the version 4.5 but still
I am not able to import/deploy or even refresh connection.
After I clicking on import/deploy/test connection, there is no any
response on my Designer. Nothing popped out.

Did you install by choosing run as administrator? (Even if you are logged in as an administrator)
If that still doesn't fix it, also try running the program using the run as administrator context menu option.

That should rule out local security issues.

Anything in the Error Log? If 4.5, type Error in the Search box, upper
right.

Re: Designer 4.5 not able to deploy/import driver and workflow

You sir have a NICI/JClient problem.

Jclient is the class trying to start (Java based) but it relies in NICI
for native code.

So ironically it is usually NICI that is the problem.

Most common issue is you have old NICI files somehow. (I still never
figured out how I got some when I ran into this case) I forget the TID
reference on old NICI.

Search support.novell.com for NICI issues and the details are there.

So I corrected the NICI issue, by taking the following actions.

1. Uninstalled Designer 4.5
2. Uninstalled both 32 and 64 bit NICI (It should be noted that it
appears the Designer install only updated the 32-bit NICI)
3. Rebooted
4. Manually installed 32 and 64 bit NICI by manually running the msi
files in the components sub-directory, of where the install.exe file
exists.
5. Installed Designer

I can now import from Identity Vault and also test/refresh my
connection.

However, I do still have the following errors when Designer loads.
