Re: Designer 4.7.2.0 released

Hey, why has Micro Focus decided to use Azul Zulu OpenJDK? Is this somehow a preferred replacement versus the other available replacement options? Why?

Basically to avoid license cost, I would guess. Here's some background info:

Ya, Oracle is changing it for everyone and Azul is the way MF is going.

Would it not be nice if all JVM's were compatible? Dream on.

I was going to make a Russian joke about Pushkin, then realized I would
probably offend a bunch of people.

I know in Toronto the Pushkin school shut down (I knew where two
branches were).

The GIT vs SVN vs any version control is probably one of the hardest
changes to make in Designer. Alas. Some of this, I think is how they
implemnted the SVN the first time, which is also the cause of some of
the memory issues. Alas. Keep on dreaming!

Re: Designer 4.7.2.0 released

I wouldn't expect enterprise software to implement new features,
particularly major new features, in a service/support pack. As Geoffrey
mentions, it's a big problem to solve no matter when it is done. I've
ween 4.8 in comments here and there, so that's on a horizon somewhere.

Re: Designer 4.7.2.0 released

I'm more making a jab than anything... I've been working with this product since about 3.7 and have been complaining about subversion the entire time.

It would at least be slightly more tolerable if I could use an external subversion tool, even... bogging down an 8 core, 16GB machine (w/ SSD) just for "check in" is unacceptable.

I hear your pain.

Side note: Is it actually using more than one thread for it? That would
be nice! I usually get 1 core running at 100% leaving my other core for
work.

I've never bothered to check, actually. I'll make a point to pay attention... I usually just go for a walk.
