IDM 4.5 and Internet Exporer

Hi,

the documentation states that version 11 or better of IE is supported
for the Application server of IDM 4.5.
Is there any way of making a lower version (10 or 9) work with it,
unsupported naturally.
It would also be nice to have some argument to why version 11 is needed,
maybe HTML5 functions that does not exist in previous versions etc.
The same actually applies to all Web-browsers.

In essence, what I am looking for is a good, correct way to respond to
people who ask why they need to upgrade their web-browser.
The answer: That is the only supported web-browsers is not enough. They
need a reason for upgrading on x amount of desktops.

Thanks
Joakim

The idea behind this (as far as understood it) was to take a new approach that would cater for the newer rapid-fire release schedule that the main browsers are on these days.
That is why the version x (or better) is now the chosen wording.

Considering that people have been asking for support for these for the past year or two and they didn't make the cut with 4.5, the likelyhood of them getting supported officially is non-existent.

I'm only guessing here, but I think in edge mode, the layout of controls and some event behaviour is more consistent with other browsers.
As NetIQ is saying we support IE11+ and Microsoft is now recommending edge mode it would be a safe guess that that NetIQ is targeting edge mode as it makes development easier if things behave more similar across browsers.
