IDM 4.8, OSP, Log Data: Error starting service: auth

Jump to solution

Hi,

My OSP fails to startup correctly after upgrading from IDM 4.7 to 4.8.

I can see this in the OSP logfile: Caused by:
internal.atlaslite.jcce.exception.CoreInitializationException: Authentication Source 'CSV File User Authentication(id=asf1)': Instance data store referenced by 'is-file-instance-data' cannot be resolved.

Has anybody else seen this error?

Thanks

Re: IDM 4.8, OSP, Log Data: Error starting service: auth

Jump to solution

I have tried to copy the adminusers.txt from the backup to the /opt/netiq/idm/apps/osp directory that it wanted but it didn't help.

I then tried to delete the values from the File name and path and File Name fields in configupdate on the IG SSO Clients tab and that seems to have helped.

OSP starts correctly now and I can login to UA.

The weird thing is that if I run configupdate again and go to the IG SSO Clients tab it shows the values I previously deleted from the File Authentication Source fields.

My guess would be that the IDG style config is there in the IDM style OSP.  IDG uses a file, specified in the configutil.sh for where the username:password file is located.

The kicker is figuring out what the proper setting should be, to be set in the ism-config file to specify a real path. Or to find the expected path. I would guess at trying the IDG value.

Ah, found it in an IDG install:

com.netiq.iac.bootstrapadmin.authsrc=asf1
com.netiq.idm.osp.fileauthsrc.path = /opt/netiq/idm/apps/idgov/osp
com.netiq.idm.osp.fileauthsrc.filename = adminusers.txt

That looks like your issue.  Consider making an adminusers.txt file, (there is a JAR that comes with IDG that encrypts the password properly.  I do not know if you need a real/proper set of values, but it seems you DO need the file in 4.8.
