IDM 4 license for all 4 versions?

Little question about the IDM 4 license. Can i upgrade a licensed 4.0.1
install to 4.0.2?
In other words: are the IDM 4 licenses interchangeable between the
4.0.0, 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 versions?

As far as I know. The way it works is there is a major revision license.

So 3.5.x, 3.6.x, 4.x for the engine and then some drivers need their own
licenses, but it depends how they implement the requirement, often it
does not care what engine version is running, per se.

which confused me.

Re: IDM 4 license for all 4 versions?

I installed the new IDM 4.0.2 AD driver and had to install the license
for IDM 4.0.2 even though I had the 4.0.1 license installed already.

That's exactly the problem i had. It indeed turns out that you need the
4.0.2 ACT file for that.

Really? How interesting. Engine but not drivers, right?

There are some shims that require the latest-greatest activation codes.
For example, the latest MAD shim is made for 4.0 SP2 specifically.
This is probably what was encountered.

Good luck.

I know they say that, but have you seen that it actually returns a new
activation version to the __driver_identification_query__ on driver
startup?

I.e. Trust but verify?

Go verify; I know the latest shim needs newer activation because it was
the first time since 3.5.0 or so that MAD was affected. Also, it makes
life a little confusing for those on 4.0 SP1 who just want a later
shim.... don't do it unless you know your activation provides the
required min-activation-version stuff.

Good luck.

Hope its OK to resurrect an old thread.

We have just fallen foul of this, thankfully on a non production tree
but still very inconvenient. The driver had passed its evaluation time
and when we came to use it again it wouldn't work, no problem, just
apply our licence. Nope, doesn't work.

Nice of Novell to tell us all (seeing as they clearly know) and to
update our licences _to which we are entitled_ so we don't have to faff
around like this.
I'm afraid, yet another confirmation of our correct decision to migrate
off this stuff to something more professional.
