IDM Install on Windows -- hung or just really really slow?

I'm installing IDM 4.02 components on two Windows 2008 VMs. The
components I'm installing are the User App, Designer, and iManager. I
ran the integrated installer and selected those components. The install
process got to "Installing ... iManager" and has been sitting there for
45 minutes on both systems.

Is patience all that's called for here, or could something be awry?

Thanks

iManager install can be slow, mostly as it does the plugins.

But that seems a bit long.

It finally completed on both systems. I wish I had timed it -- it took
at least 1.5 hours.

Thanks

Re: IDM Install on Windows -- hung or just really really slow?

It was probably a disk IO issue.
That's a lot of code to write to the disk.

At least that has been my experience when installing in VMs.

Wow, you're a lot more patient than I am. I wonder if this could have
been your AV scanner slowing down the disk writes, combined with having
to write lots and lots of little files.

That seems unreasonably slow. You might try the dedicated product
installers instead, though. The integrated installer hasn't always worked
for people, but the dedicated ones normally do.

I don't like that the integrated installer names your tree for you and doesn't allow you to
personalize it. But that's just me 🙂

Re: IDM Install on Windows -- hung or just really really slow?

I haven't seen that one before. What is in the install log specifically?
