Odd Waring Error Trying to Add Remote Loader on Windows

I was just doing some testing in my lab and I just installed IdM 4.7 remote loader on a Windows 2012 R2 server that never had IdM on it before. After installing it I ran RLConsole and click ADD to add a remote loader instance and I get a blank dialog box with a warning icon in it:

Any ideas what that is? I tried rebooting the server. I tried uninstalling the IdM, rebooting, and reinstalling. I tried running as a regular user and as an admin user. Always get the same error when pushing the Add button.

You say "run as an Admin user" by that do you mean, logged in as admin
user, or right click and "Run as Administrator". Needs to be that
latter option.

Right click run as Administrator.

There is a registry setting under, I guess Local Machine, Software,
either NetIQ/Novell for the Remote loader. Go spelunking there? That
is how it knows which instances to load. Clear any config there, maybe
it has a bad config there?

Did you run your RL instance from server console or if you connected remotely from terminal 0?
Did you run it as administrator?

Do you have any antivirus or white/black listing software, that can block any software from run?
Did you see anything in Event Viewer?

From Console 0, no AV software on the server.

Thank you, Matt.
I will repeat my last question: Did you see anything in Event Viewer?

I looked but I didn't see anything that looked related. I'll take another look.

Ok, now I'm really baffled. I just built a brand new Windows 2016 server and installed the remote loader software and I got the exact same problem to occur.

Here is an update...

I ended up removing/uninstalling IdM 4.7 and installed the IdM 4.6 remote loader and I do not have the same problem. The issue only appears to exist with the idM 4.7 remote loader.

I do have an SR open on this and support spent quite a long time in a remote session and could not figure it out and they cannot duplicate it. But seeing as 4.6 works fine, I would say there is some odd/rare issue with 4.7.

Re: Odd Waring Error Trying to Add Remote Loader on Windows

Get Sysinternals' Procmon on there (if not done already) and see what is
happening before that prompt shows up, and then compare with 4.6, or with
another system where it does not happen.

It may be worthwhile to verify your IDM install media (if you have not
done so already). If you are burning media, try another way; if mounting
it, just be sure the mounted ISO (or whatever file) has a matching
checksum with the one listed on the download site.

We tried to use procman to figure out what was going on and could not.

We also tried downloading the media again and checking the md5sum as well, no difference.
